Hello everybody, my name is Marta and I’m the proud creator of the Malika Surf Camp.

Why Malika? Because is where I met Aziz, my husband, in this small village called Malika.

When I decided to create this surf camp I recieved the much needed help of some very good friends; somebody offered me a few wetsuits, somebody a board, somebody a leash or a rash vest. And so I started with 7 boards in 2010.

Malika Surf Camp is a 100% local surfcamp, we don’t have any main sponsors but you can now count around 90 boards in our shop on the beach front.

Personally, I believe that this is like a circle: if somebody gives me something, I have to give something to somebody else in return. The circle thus continues. If I receive a board, I’ll offer a board. That’s it, simple.

So Malika Surf Camp’s business supports locals young surfers to live out their dream and be able to surf with their own board and wetsuit.

We encourage them in their schooling as we believe that nowadays sports and education go side to side. This is why we are constantly in contact with parents to be sure they understand the importance of going to school.

Very recently, in March 2019, we activated an Instagram page for young surfers who participate in our surf & studies program: @surfkids_shredding_senegal. This page contains photos and is administered by Marta and the parents of the children. In 2020 we create the Surfkids Shredding Senegal FOUNDATION, which is based in the NL, thanks to the help of Amy and Connor Klein.

Thanks to the Foundation, more kids can benefit of the program and we can push the girls into this amazing sport too !!!!

On the other hand, we take serious actions to support the local economy in the area where the surf camp is located: a few years ago we connected the electricity supply until another stretch of the beach and therefore small businesses were able to be established, like restaurants, food shops and even another surf school; all managed by the people from Yoff.

Everything and everybody is connected, this is why Senegal is the Country of the Terranga, you’ll feel it as soon as you are here!

So, feel free to join this circle, because everybody can be involved!
